How to Set Up MetaMask for Binance Smart Chain

Complete guide to adding BSC network to MetaMask browser extension

🚀 Create Your BSC Token Now

1 Installing MetaMask

MetaMask is the most widely used Web3 wallet browser extension, available for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge. Visit metamask.io/download and install the official extension. Never download MetaMask from third-party sites. After installation, click 'Create a Wallet' and follow the setup process. Write down your Secret Recovery Phrase — 12 words that are the only backup for your wallet. Store this offline and never share it.

2 Adding BSC Network to MetaMask

By default, MetaMask connects to Ethereum. To use Binance Smart Chain, you need to add it manually. Open MetaMask and click the network dropdown at the top (it shows 'Ethereum Mainnet'). Select 'Add Network' then 'Add a network manually'. Enter these settings: Network Name: Binance Smart Chain. New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/. Chain ID: 56. Currency Symbol: BNB. Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com. Click Save.

3 Switching Networks in MetaMask

MetaMask allows you to switch between networks easily. Click the network dropdown to see all configured networks. Select Binance Smart Chain to switch. All token balances will update to show BSC assets. To switch back to Ethereum, simply select Ethereum Mainnet from the dropdown. Most DeFi applications automatically prompt you to switch to the correct network when needed, making the process even easier.

4 Getting BNB into MetaMask

With BSC network selected in MetaMask, click your account address to copy it. Use this address to receive BNB from any exchange. On Binance: Go to Withdraw, select BNB, choose BEP-20 (BSC) network, enter your MetaMask address, and confirm. The BNB should arrive in 1-5 minutes. Never send BNB via BEP-2 or ERC-20 to a MetaMask BSC address — you may lose funds.

5 Using MetaMask with BSC DeFi

Once MetaMask is configured for BSC, you can use all BSC applications. Visit CreateBSCToken.com to create tokens, PancakeSwap to trade, or any other BSC DeFi app. Click 'Connect Wallet' on any platform and select MetaMask. Approve the connection in the MetaMask popup. MetaMask will prompt you to approve every transaction, showing the exact amount of BNB you'll pay in fees.

6 MetaMask Security Best Practices

Protect your MetaMask wallet with these critical security habits. Your Secret Recovery Phrase is the master key — never enter it on any website, even if it looks legitimate. Lock MetaMask when not in use and set a strong password. Be extremely careful with wallet connection permissions — only connect to sites you trust. Revoke unused permissions regularly via etherscan.io/tokenapprovalchecker for ETH or bscscan.com for BSC. Consider a hardware wallet like Ledger for large holdings.
